Meet Dave Hayward
My name is David Hayward, and I’m the owner of Hayward Homes.
Construction has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. After earning my degree in Construction Management from Pittsburg State University, I began my career with JE Dunn Construction, one of the nation’s largest commercial contractors.
During my time there, I had the opportunity to help manage some of the most complex and recognizable projects in the Kansas City region and beyond. From healthcare facilities and historic restorations to corporate headquarters and mixed-use developments, I gained firsthand experience overseeing projects ranging from a few million dollars to well over $200 million.
Those projects taught me more than how to build. They taught me the importance of planning, communication, accountability, and attention to detail. Whether it’s a large commercial development or a family home, the fundamentals are the same: do what you say you’re going to do, build it right, and take pride in the finished product.
While I enjoyed working on large-scale commercial projects, I found myself drawn to the more personal side of construction. I wanted the opportunity to work directly with homeowners and families while creating spaces that people genuinely enjoy living in every day.
That’s what led me to start Hayward Homes + Construction.
Today, I bring the same level of professionalism, organization, and project management that I learned on major commercial projects and apply it to every renovation, addition, and custom home project we take on. My goal is simple: deliver a quality project and make the process as smooth and enjoyable as possible from start to finish.
At the end of the day, Hayward Homes is built on relationships, trust, and craftsmanship. I take pride in being hands-on, accessible, and committed to every project from start to finish.
